KYOCERA CORPORATION : 2012 Kyoto Prize Symposium Journalism Fellowship Offered by Point Loma Nazarene University

Fellow will participate in one-of-a-kind presentations by latest laureates of the Kyoto Prize during March 2012 Symposium in San Diego

Point Loma Nazarene University is accepting applications for its 2012 Kyoto Prize Symposium Journalism Fellowship -- a fully-funded, comprehensive educational program designed to enhance a journalist's knowledge in technology, science and the arts. The fellow will participate in unique workshops and presentations by the latest Kyoto Prize laureates at San Diego State University, UC San Diego, and the University of San Diego during the 11^th annual Kyoto Prize Symposium in San Diego, Calif., March 20-22, 2012. The program includes travel expenses, lodging and a per-diem.

About the 27^th Annual Kyoto Prize Laureates

From the ancient arts to the frontiers of science and technology, the newest Kyoto Prize laureates have bettered society through their significant bodies of work -- they are Dr. John Werner Cahn (U.S.), a groundbreaking materials scientist; Dr. Rashid Sunyaev (Russia / Germany), a pioneering astrophysicist; and Tamasaburo Bando V (Japan), a renowned kabuki actor.

About the Kyoto Prize

The Kyoto Prize is presented each year by Japan's non-profit Inamori Foundation to individuals and groups worldwide who have demonstrated outstanding contributions to the betterment of society, in "Advanced Technology," "Basic Sciences," and "Arts and Philosophy." The prize consists of academic honors, a gold medal, and a cash gift of 50 million yen (about US$650,000) per category, making it Japan's highest private award for global achievement.
