KT (CEO Hwang Chang-Gyu, www.kt.com) revealed on December 21, 2016 that it signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with 14 foreign telecommunications companies, including China Mobile, for ease of use for roaming customers at the China Guangzhou Westin Pazhou Hotel on December 20th (local time). The MOU regarded Optimization of Roaming Service Quality.
In this MOU, representatives from 14 telecommunications companies, including China Mobile (China), Deutsche Telekom (Germany), Orange (France), StarHub (Singapore) and True Corporation (Thailand), were present, while KT was the sole participant from Korea.
Through the MOU, the 14 telecommunications companies plan to improve their customers' satisfaction in use of roaming service. The companies are making concrete plans to provide quality voice, text and data services. The companies are cooperating closely to provide a secure data roaming service and voice and text quality guarantee through data network linkage optimization.
KT is laying the foundations for providing continuous top notch roaming service in Korea through collaboration build-up of international telecommunications companies. Although currently, service providers signing contracts are conducting roaming quality management activities individually, henceforth, the 14 providers intend to cooperate to improve roaming quality and share technologies through periodic meetings. KT hopes to raise service satisfaction for customers in a tangible way through this method.
KT Marketing Strategy Executive Director Lee Pil-Jae said, "The fourteen providers reinforced roaming service quality improvement and various customer-focused cooperation projects through acquired network infrastructure groundwork." and that he "looks forward to good results that bring mutual synergy."
