LINZ (dpa-AFX) - The Austrian technology group Kontron has landed an order to supply charging stations for electric cars. The order volume amounts to at least 200 million euros in the first step, the SDax group announced in Linz on Tuesday. The customer is one of the world's largest car manufacturers. Series production will begin in July. The Kontron share rose by more than four percent in pre-market trading on L&S.

The company is relying on the expertise of its new subsidiary eSystems to develop the fully networked charging solution. Kontron acquired the manufacturer of charging systems at the beginning of the year as part of the takeover of the German electronics company Katek. "We are already seeing the first successes and synergy effects," said CEO Hannes Niederhauser. Among other things, the upgrading of Katek products with Kontron software would result in considerable cost advantages./mne/stw/stk
