40,000 Euros raised for further education for refugees Published 11 Jan 2022

During the month of December, Knowit and its employees, clients, partners, and friends raised 40,000 Euros for the UNHCR Tertiary Scholarship Programme. For each krona donated, Knowit donated two.

For refugees, access to higher education is a fight against the odds, with only around three percent of young adult refugees being accepted to some form of further education. The long-term goal for UNHCR is to increase the proportion to 15% by the year 2030. Higher education is an important tool for displaced youths to change both their own living situations and those of other refugees.

Knowit has for the past several years performed an annual fundraiser for UNHCR's efforts in education.

"For us at Knowit, the fundraiser is a way to support one of the UN's sustainable development goals: SDG 4, 'Quality education for all'. Education is also something that we highlight and focus on in our long-term sustainability efforts," says CEO and President Per Wallentin.

Together with colleagues, friends, and clients, we managed to raise more than 40,000 Euros during the month of December. This will all be donated to promote further education for refugees - providing the chance for a more independent future.
