McAfee today announced that leading research firm Gartner, Inc. has placed the company in the leaders' quadrant in its "Magic Quadrant for Endpoint Protection Platforms" as published on January 16, 2012. Gartner's research examined vendors who offer solutions in the endpoint protection marketplace.

Gartner's Magic Quadrant for Endpoint Protection Platforms is based on an assessment of a company's ability to execute and completeness of vision.

The key ability-to-execute criteria used to evaluate vendors in 2011 were overall viability and market responsiveness and track record. Additional factors included sales execution/pricing, market execution, customer experience and operations. Gartner gauges a company's completeness of vision by considering its market understanding, sales and marketing strategy, offering or product strategy, business model, and innovation, among other criteria.

"McAfee feels that its position in the leaders quadrant demonstrates the company's vision of providing customers with the most advanced and integrated endpoint security solutions," said Candace Worley, senior vice president and general manager, endpoint security at McAfee. "A key part of McAfee's comprehensive endpoint protection is McAfee Global Threat Intelligence. It provides visibility across all key threat vectors and a view into the latest vulnerabilities. With this capability, McAfee is able to correlate data collected from millions of sensors around the globe, and deliver real-time protection throughout our suite of McAfee security products."
