Hrvatski Telekom dd : mNurse Pilot Project Started in hospitals in Zabok and Zagreb

• By using the mNurse application, the ward nurses will be able to enter all their observations and required information in the hospital system on the spot during their regular checks and conversations with patients within all hospital premises
• HT installed the Wi-Fi equipment in hospitals, and IN2 provided the programme support

Hrvatski Telekom and IN2 started the implementation of the mNurse system in Zagreb Children's Hospital and Zabok General Hospital. The mNurse application is a mobile upgrade of the IN2 Hospital Information System (Bolnički informacijski sustv - BIS) intended for nurses working in hospital wards.

The mNurse application will enable the ward nurses to enter all their observations and required information in the hospital system on the spot during their regular checks and conversations with patients within all hospital premises. The graphic display of data in the application ensures better visibility of the patient data, and the data records are adjusted to the working process of the ward nurses. The users of the application have a full insight into the ward activity list, which, in a simple way, provides an overview of the prescribed and applied therapies and interventions for all patients.

'The data are entered in the Hospital Information System in real time, and they are available straight off to all persons who need them. This completely changes the modus operandi of almost all hospitals, i.e. the current practice of keeping written notes which are afterwards, using desktop computers, copied into the Hospital Information System,' said Denis Jager, Head of the Health Key Account Department of IN2 Group.

Within the scope of the project, Hrvatski Telekom installed the required LAN/WiFi infrastructure in hospitals and provided tablet computers on which the ward nurses can use the mNurse application and connect with the IN2 hospital system in which all the patient data are recorded. The tablet computers meet the technical and safety standards securing the exchange of rather sensitive personal data of patients. IN2 educated workers in hospitals so that they can start to use this solution on a daily basis, which would reduce the work load and increase the efficiency of ward nurses.

'Our collaboration with IN2 has already produced the first results, and the pilot projects like this one are the best way for our users and for us as partners to see how our converged ICT solutions can affect the change of the usual business practices. We believe that this is a huge step in digitalisation of medical institutions, which will make the job of the staff there more simple and efficient,' said Damir Crvelin, Head of the eHealth Project of Hrvatski Telekom.
