Guangdong Land Holdings Limited provided group earnings guidance for the nine months ended 30 September 2017. The company announced that it is expected that the Group will record an unaudited loss attributable to owners of the Company of not more than HKD 5 million for the nine months ended 30 September 2017. For the nine months ended 30 September 2016, the Group recorded an unaudited profit attributable to owners of the Company of approximately HKD 12.09 million. As at 30 September 2017, the Group's financial position remained stable. When comparing to the same period last year, the major factors that affected the results of the Group for the nine months ended 30 September 2017 include the following: a decrease in revenue generated from the sale of residential units under the Ruyingju Project when compared to the same period last year. This was mainly due to the fact that, in terms of the gross floor area, approximately 90.6% of the residential units under the Ruyingju Project were sold before the end of 2016. In view of the local government's guidance on property prices and the Group's intention of not lowering the selling prices of the remaining residential units in the Ruyingju Project, the timetable for the sale of the remaining residential units in the Ruyingju Project has been postponed as compared with the original schedule. Thus, the gross profit from the Ruyingju Project in the nine months ended 30 September 2017 was significantly smaller than that for the same period last year; and for the nine months ended 30 September 2016, Renminbi RMB) depreciated against HKD and resulted in the recognition of net exchange losses of approximately HKD 23 million by the Group. Since 2016 and in 2017, the Group gradually remitted the RMB deposits previously held in Hong Kong into its subsidiary responsible for the development of the Buxin Project in the People's Republic of China, resulting in a significant decrease in the amount of net foreign exchange differences recognised in the statement of profit or loss by the Group.
