Belgian investment company Gimv announced on Tuesday that it had made a strategic investment in Curana, a manufacturer of bicycle parts, components and accessories.

Based in Ardooie, not far from Bruges, Curana is renowned for the quality of its mudguards, chain guards and wheel spoke covers, which it markets to leading manufacturers.

In a press release, Gimv explains that this investment illustrates its desire to position itself in the sustainable mobility sector and in the lifestyle economy.

The transaction comes at a crucial time, as the company's founder, Dirk Vens, recently passed away.

With the help of Jean-Charles Malherbe, co-investor and new CEO, Gimv says it wants to professionalize Curana's organization and accelerate its international development to ensure the company's next phase of growth.
