Investor activity on GPW Group markets: December 2015 and summary of 2015

PRESS RELEASE: TRADING ON GPW GROUP MARKETS

  • The value of EOB equities trading on the Main Market increased by 5.6% year on year to PLN 16.4 billion in December 2015

The total value of trade in equities on the Electronic Order Book on the Main Market increased by 5.6% to PLN 16.4 billion in December 2015 and decreased by 0.9% to PLN 203.5 billion in all of 2015. The average daily value of trade in equities on the Electronic Order Book was PLN 810.6 million in 2015, a decrease of 1.7% year on year. The average number of transactions per session increased by 18.5% year on year to 65.9 thousand transactions in 2015.

The total value of trading on NewConnect was PLN 140.7 million in December 2015, representing a decrease of more than a half year on year. The incremental value of trading in equities on the Electronic Order Book on NewConnect increased by 41.2% year on year to PLN 1.7 billion in 2015. The average number of transactions per session was 4.4 thousand transactions, representing an increase of 26.2% year on year.

The volume of trading in index futures was 540.2 thousand contracts in December 2015 compared to 508.9 thousand contracts in December 2014, representing an increase of 6.2% year on year. The volume of trading in single-stock futures was 91.4 thousand contracts in December 2015 compared to 70.2 thousand contracts in December 2014 (an increase of 30.2% year on year). The volume of trading in options was 49.1 thousand contracts in December 2015 compared to 54.1 thousand contracts in December 2014.

Taking into account the adjustment of volumes resulting from the change of the multiplier of the WIG20 futures in June 20151, the volume of trading in index futures increased by 1.2% year on year in 2015 to 4.5 million contracts. The volume of trading in single-stock futures increased by 78.1% year on year from 0.6 million contracts in 2014 to 1.0 million contracts in 2015.

The value of bond issues listed on Catalyst was PLN 69.6 billion at the end of December 2015, representing an increase of 8.6% year on year. The value of trade on the Electronic Order Book on Catalyst was PLN 202.0 million in December 2015, representing an increase of 34.8% year on year. The value of trade on the Electronic Order Book on Catalyst was PLN 2.2 billion in 2015, representing a decrease of 7.4% year on year.

The total value of trade on TBSP decreased by 6.6% year on year to PLN 42.4 billion in December 2015. The total value of cash and conditional transactions on TBSP was PLN 599.4 billion in 2015 compared to PLN 766.6 billion in 2014.

The total volume of spot and forward trade in electricity increased by 5.5% year on year to 16.9 TWh in December 2015. The total volume of spot and forward trade in electricity was 186.7 TWh in 2015, representing a modest decrease (-0.1%) year on year.
The volume of trading in property rights to certificates of origin decreased by 16.1% year on year to 5.4 TWh in December 2015. The volume increased by 63.6% year on year to 58.9 TWh in all of 2015.

The total volume of spot and forward transactions in natural gas was 8.2 TWh in December 2015 compared to 8.5 TWh in December 2014. The total volume of trade in gas was 106.9 TWh in 2015 compared to 111.6 TWh in 2014.

The following companies were newly listed on the Main Market in December 2015: Kofola Ceskoslovensko (offering of PLN 120.8 million), Korporacja KGL (offering of PLN 33.3 million), Enter Air (offering of PLN 98.0 million), Lokum Deweloper (offering of PLN 36.0 million), Krynica Vitamin (offering of PLN 26.4 million), Orion Investment (no offering), 11 Bit Studios (no offering), Labo Print (transfer from NewConnect, no offering).

The company SOFTBLUE was newly listed on NewConnect in December 2015 (offering of PLN 10 million).
GPW held 20 trading sessions in December 2015 and 251 trading sessions in 2015.

2015 statistics:

The number of companies listed on the GPW Main Market increased in 2015. There were 471 listed companies at the end of 2014 and 487 companies at the end of 2015. Thirty companies were newly listed in 2015, compared to 28 companies in 2014. All IPOs on the GPW Main Market in 2015 were worth PLN 2.0 billion (PLN 1.3 billion in 2014). The capitalisation of domestic companies on the Main Market was PLN 516.8 billion at the end of 2015 and the total capitalisation of domestic and foreign companies was PLN 1,082.9 billion.

19 companies were newly listed on NewConnect in 2015, and 13 companies transferred to the GPW Main Market, the highest number since NewConnect opened. As a result, the alternative market listed 418 companies at the end of 2015 compared to 431 companies at the end of 2014. The total capitalisation of domestic and foreign companies was PLN 8.7 billion at the end of 2015 (a decrease of 5.0% year on year). The total value of offerings on NewConnect was PLN 65.8 million in 2015 (PLN 47.0 million in 2014).

More foreign companies were newly listed on the Warsaw Stock Exchange in 2015. Six foreign stocks were newly listed on the GPW Main Market, including Private Equity Managers, Uniwheels, Prairie Mining Limited,Wind Mobile, City Service, Kofola Ceskoslovensko. The two GPW markets listed 64 foreign companies at the end of December 2015, including 54 companies on the Main Market and 10 companies on NewConnect.

Bonds of 23 issuers were newly listed on Catalyst in 2015. The number of issuers decreased from 193 in 2014 to 192 in 2015. The total value of listed issues was PLN 613.1 billion (PLN 544.6 billion in 2014). The number of issuers of corporate bonds increased from 147 in 2014 to 148 in 2015, the number of issuers of municipal bonds decreased from 20 in 2014 to 19 in 2015, and the number of issuers of co-operative bonds and covered bonds remained stable at 22 and 2, respectively. The number of listed bond issues increased by 2.9% from 517 in 2014 to 532 in 2015. The number of corporate bond series increased from 357 to 360 year on year, the number of co-operative bond series from 37 to 40, the number of municipal bond series from 57 to 58, and the number of covered bonds series from 33 to 38.

The total volume of trade on the electricity markets of the Polish Power Exchange was 186.7 TWh (a decrease of 0.05% year on year), including 25.1 TWh on the spot market (Day-Ahead Market and Intra-Day Market, an increase of 5.5% year on year) and 161.6 TWh on the Commodity Forward Instruments Market (a decrease of 0.9% year on year). The total volume of trade in natural gas was 106.9 TWh (a decrease of 4.3% year on year). The volume of trade in gas was 13.9 TWh on the spot market (Day-Ahead Market in Gas and Intra-Day Market in Gas; an increase of 111.8% year on year) and 92.9 TWh on the Commodity Forward Instruments Market (a decrease of 11.5% year on year). PolPX had 67 members at the end of 2015.
