Midea Inaugurates New Facility for Air-conditioning & Refrigeration Research Institute

Oct 17th 2011, The inauguration ceremony of new facility for Midea Air-conditioning & Refrigeration Research Institute was held in Shunde, China. The Institute assembles together the previous Midea Central Research Institute and Midea Residential AC Engineering Centre. Construction of the new facility starts from 2010, with a total investment at 400million RMB (61.5million USD). The complex covers a land area of 40,000 square meters and contains R&D building, laboratory building and recreation centre.
The Institute will continue to focuses on key research and development in the air-conditioning & refrigeration field, such as environmental friendly new refrigerant, low frequency inverter technology of inverter AC and renewable energy applications such as solar etc. Over 89 laboratories has been planned for the Institute, with an estimated investment on testing facilities at 200million RMB (30.75million USD).
The Institute shall continue to pursue technology advancement in the industry. In the past, Midea has applied for more than 4,000 patents on air-conditioning technologies, and has been an active participant in drafting and amending national and industrial standards.
