New white paper: Highest data protection with the FP Secure Gateway from Francotyp-Postalia

Cyber attacks cause annual losses of 55 billion euros to the German economy alone. The FP Secure Gateway from Francotyp-Postalia (FP) provides reliable protection for data transfer to cloud services. In its newly published white paper, FP explains the functionality and advantages of the hardware security module for industrial Internet of Things applications.

Berlin, 25 July 2018 - Cyber attacks are on the rise worldwide. Last year, for example, the ransomware WannaCry caused significant damage to numerous companies around the globe and only recently unknown hackers tried to penetrate the networks of large German energy providers. This shows that companies must constantly expect to become victims of a cyber attack, which in the worst case will cause great financial damage.

Professional data encryption with the Francotyp-Postalia hardware security module
Whether spyware, Trojans or ransomware - cyber attacks are usually aimed at gaining possession of confidential data. The spotlight of late has fallen increasingly on the Internet of Things (IoT). Professional encryption is required to protect the data transfer of industrial plants and equipment that are connected to each other via a cloud service. Francotyp-Postalia (FP), the expert in secure mailing business and secure digital communication processes, provides reliable protection with its FP Secure Gateway.

The hardware security module (HSM) ensures a high level of data transfer security through strong encryption.
This is carried out through the use of passwords and encryption algorithms generated within the device. Even in the event of an intrusion from outside, whether digital or physical, the data is protected because the FP Secure Gateway automatically deletes the stored keys. In this way it meets the requirements for level 3 FIPS140-2 device certification. "The topic of security has a very high degree of relevance, which is constantly increasing, for all areas of the economy. We are one of the pioneers in the field of secure data transfer. Because, for more than ten years, we have been transferring data from machines with hardware-based security to the cloud and are able to control it centrally," explains Rüdiger Andreas Günther, CEO of FP. "Our core competencies in sensor systems, actuating elements, connectivity and cryptography form the foundation of our FP Secure Gateways. With them, we are opening the door to the Internet of Things for industrial companies."

In its recently published white paper "The Benefits of a Hardware Security Module in Industrial IoT Applications", Francotyp-Postalia answers all of the questions about the exact functionality of its FP Secure Gateway and explains the advantages compared to other security solutions.
