PRESS RELEASE F&C Investments Launches Campaign to Help Advisers Navigate Changing Post-Retirement Market

Initiative will include providing advisors with materials and support and the roll out of regional seminars

LONDON, January 20, 2015 - F&C Investments (F&C), a part of BMO Global Asset Management, today announced that it is launching a campaign to assist advisers with the upcoming changes in the post-retirement market. It also announced that it has engaged Technical Connection to

provide input on the many technical and legislative requirements involved.
As part of the campaign, F&C will be providing advisers with a wealth of materials, training and support to help navigate their clients into the in-, at- and post-retirement phases of their lives. This will include detailed case studies for different client circumstances, as well as advice guides covering various options with the pros and cons when entering the decumulation retirement phase. F&C will also be offering Continuing Professional Development (CPD) accredited training for advisers and a retirement related technical support service, which will be supported with input from Technical Connection when needed.
"Advisers, as well as clients, have a lot to navigate this year given what is arguably the biggest change yet to the post-retirement market," said Rob Thorpe, Head of UK Sales, F&C. "The post- retirement changes present a significant opportunity to both fund groups and advisers, as the new pension freedoms will create a massive demand for advice. However, it has become obvious to us that we need to support advisers in this market beyond just offering them strong investment products and solutions. Technical Connection has been providing support to the adviser community for many years and has earned a reputation as being an authority in the often complex world of pensions and drawdown. We are delighted that they will be providing underlying technical support to our adviser support proposition in the post-retirement market."
"It will be no surprise to most that our adviser research on the pension reforms indicates that drawdown will become a more favoured option, in many cases within the context of blended solutions," said Tony Wickenden of Technical Connection. "Platforms and asset managers will have an increasing role to play in delivering income, accumulation and capital preservation investment strategies. 'In retirement advice' will need to be a core competence for advisers and thoughtful, targeted, informed and practical support will, of course, be valued."

F&C Regional Adviser Seminars to Begin in March

F&C will be launching its adviser support programme through a series of regional seminars across the country in the first two weeks in March. Advisers will be able to hear from Technical Connection on the key post-retirement changes and the advice opportunities this provides as well as hear from F&C's Co-Heads of Multi Manager, Rob Burdett and Gary Potter, on how multi asset investments can help meet investors' income needs as part of a drawdown strategy.
