Livorno, December 13th, 2023 - ErreDue (EGM: RDUE), a company active in the design and production of highly innovative and customised solutions for the on-site production, mixing and purification of technical gases (hydrogen produced through the electrolysis of water, nitrogen, oxygen), announces the signing of an agreement with the company Foglia Umberto Srl for the supply of a 1 MW PEM electrolysis plant, which will be delivered in 2025 and used for the production and storage of green hydrogen to be built within the Waste Treatment Plant Pole of the Guglionesi District, in the Molise Region.

The green hydrogen produced by the PEM electrolyser will be stored and then reused to produce heat for use inside the hub. The electricity needed to work the electrolyser will be provided by an approximately 2 MW photovoltaic plant that will be positioned above the landfill roof. The project will allow the plant hub, and thus the Molise Region, to take on unique characteristics in the national panorama, concentrating in a single site a series of activities that will ambitiously contribute to the country's decarbonisation objective and the achievement of the climate targets set by the European Commission.

The hydrogen production plant supplied by ErreDue consists of an electrolyser with a nominal power of 1 MW and will have a maximum production of 200 Nm3/h for a total of 3,200 MWh/year. The efficiency of the PEM plant will be 53 MWh/tH2 and the installation of a storage system is also planned in the proximity of the plant, where the hydrogen produced will be stored at the output pressure of the electrolyser (30 bar).

The plant will have an estimated energy consumption of 3,200 MWh, the hydrogen produced will be totally from a renewable source, and the expected annual production quantity is around 60.38 tH2. The electricity will therefore be totally generated by the photovoltaic system directly connected to the hydrogen production plant. According to the Decree of the Ministry of Ecological Transition of 21/09/2022, if the renewable electricity has a direct connection to the hydrogen production plant, the emission factor is to be considered zero. It follows that, in the proposed project solution, the tonnes of carbon dioxide (tCO2) emitted will be zero.

ErreDue, with this contract of over € 1.2 million, is taking part in a highly innovative project in the field of sustainable production processes, which aims to create a production hub in which the economy depends entirely on the energy produced by green hydrogen and no longer on oil and natural gas.
