Equita, the leading independent investment bank in Italy, announces the finalists of the eighth edition of its "Award for the best strategy on capital markets", the prize presented by Equita with the sponsorship of Bocconi University and Borsa Italiana that awards the companies that excelled in debt and equity fund raising over the past year.

The companies nominated for the Equita award were selected from more than 120 transactions closed within the period from 1.1.2020 to 31.12.2020 (as identified by Equita in its fifth Monitor on Capital Markets). The nine finalists - three per category - were selected among 17 debt and equity fund raising transactions which met strict selection criteria. The finalists in each category are:

Fundraising in debt capital markets: Campari, Ferrari, Leonardo;Fundraising in equity capital markets - MTA: Falck Renewables, GVS, Nexi;Fundraising in equity capital markets - AIM Italia: CY4Gate, Labomar, Tecma Solutions.

The winners of the award will be announced during the webinar "Shareholders' ownership characteristics of Italian listed companies: do they really matter for firm's performance?" which will take place on 29 March 2021 (for more information, pleasevisit the official webpage of the event).

During the event, which is part of the long-standing collaboration between Equita and Bocconi University to encourage debate on capital markets, Centro BAFFI Carefin will present its position paper, this year focused on the impacts of shareholders' base and shareholders' characteristics on listed companies' performance. Among the characteristics shaping firm's performance, the paper particularly focuses on the degree of ownership concentration, the presence of a "key" fulcrum investor and most importantly its type (being it a family, the State, a Foundation like in some Italian banks, a private citizen, a mutual fund asset manager, etc.) and its nationality.

Following the paper's presentation, the webinar will host a round table moderated by Sebastiano Barisoni (Vice Director Radio 24) with confirmed highly regarded speakers including Lucia Calvosa (Chairman Eni), Giovanni Gorno Tempini (Chairman Cassa Depositi e Prestiti), Francesco Perilli (Chairman Equita Group) and Davide Serra (Chief Executive Officer and Founder Algebris). During the event Equita will also present its fifth Monitor on Capital Markets in Italy, an analysis of the most significant issues on capital markets and the performance of the most active intermediaries and investors in 2020. This year, the Monitor will also include a new section, entirely dedicated to the analysis of ESG issues and ESG funds' performance.
