Empresas Emel SA is a Chile-based company engaged, through its subsidiaries, in the distribution and transmission of electricity. As of December 31, 2010, the Company held interest in such companies as Emelari S.A., Eliqsa S.A., Elecda S.A., Emelat S.A., Emelectric S.A., Emetal S.A., Emelat Transmision S.A., Emelectric Transmision S.A., Emetal Transmision S.A. and Transemel SA, covering such areas as Arica-Parinacota, Tarapaca, Antofagasta, Talca, Copiapo, the central regions (V to VIII) and others regions of Chile. Additionally, the Company is a subsidiary of Compania General de Electricidad SA, which holds a 97.43% of its stake.
