Vinci has announced that Omexom ENR Sud-Ouest (VINCI Energies), in a consortium with SBIPB and Profil du Futur (ArcelorMittal), will build a 4.6 MWp photovoltaic power plant for EDF Renouvelables on Reunion Island.

Located on a former landfill site at Rivière des Galets, the 8,200-panel plant will generate the equivalent of the annual electricity consumption of 4,500 inhabitants, according to Vinci.

The 4.2-hectare site was entirely cleared and levelled by SBTPC Sogea Réunion (VINCI Construction). Construction of the plant will take seven months, with commissioning scheduled for 2023.
