EDF board approves terms of nuclear plant closure at Fessenheim Paris. The company's board had decided to back the government's compensation proposals for closing the country's oldest nuclear plant, at Fessenheim. Additionally, the placement of a 63.2 GW cap on nuclear energy production capacity is part of the government's energy plan. That means closing the plant at Fessenheim is necessary before EDF can move forward with commissioning nuclear capacity at Flamanville, the company reported. The plan approved by the EDF board includes an initial EUR 490 million for closure costs, including for staff retraining and decommissioning.
