Recognition is testament to Chamberlain's commitment to military students

DOWNERS GROVE, Ill.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Chamberlain College of Nursing has been named in the "2012 Guide to Military Friendly Schools," an annual list from G.I. Jobsmagazine. The list highlights the top 20 percent of colleges and universities that demonstrate their commitment to recruiting, retaining and supporting military personnel and veterans. This distinction follows Chamberlain becoming a proud member of the Servicemembers Opportunity Colleges (SOC) Consortium. SOC is an association funded by the Department of Defense (DoD) that recognizes colleges and universities with policies and programs designed to meet the higher education needs of servicemembers worldwide.

"Chamberlain is committed to serving the needs of military students and their families to advance their level of education and prepare them for future success," said Wendy Proffitt, U.S. Air Force veteran, national senior manager of military affairs at Chamberlain College of Nursing. "Being recognized as a "Military Friendly School" by G.I. Jobs is a great testament to our dedication and support of military students."

U.S. military personnel including active military, veterans, retired military, DoD employees and spouses of active duty, veterans or retired military, who meet admissions requirements, can receive a special military tuition rate for Chamberlain's post licensure programs. These programs include Registered Nurse (RN) to Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) online degree completion option, RN-BSN to Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) online option and MSN online degree program.

"Chamberlain College of Nursing offers remarkable academic opportunities for military men and women," said Clifford Davis, executive director of the Non Commissioned Officers Association (NCOA). "Based on my work with their military affairs team at the Military.com and NCOA Career Expos this past year, Chamberlain is right on track to help military students reach their career goals."

Chamberlain specialists, with military backgrounds, partner with each student to provide academic and financial advisement specific to the needs of the military. The application fee is waived for military students, and military training and experience may be accepted toward college credits.

"As a military dependent stationed overseas in London, Chamberlain has been a wonderful school to work with," said Julia Grant, an online MSN student at Chamberlain of Nursing. "The dedicated professors and rigorous coursework have laid the foundation for a rewarding nursing career - wherever I am stationed."
