Former Deutsche Bank board member and former Postbank CEO Frank Strauß is dead.

He died last week at the age of 54, Deutsche Bank announced on Sunday. Strauß was Chairman of the Management Board of the Group subsidiary Postbank for six years from 2012 and a member of the Management Board of Deutsche Bank for two years from 2017. He had previously held various management positions at Deutsche Bank and its former subsidiary Deutsche Bank 24. Strauß also made a name for himself as a professional ice hockey player.

"In almost 30 years at Deutsche Bank and Postbank, he made a great contribution, particularly to our private client business," explained Deutsche Bank CEO Christian Sewing. "Like many colleagues at Deutsche Bank, I am shocked and deeply saddened by the untimely death of Frank Strauss."
