STAMFORD, Conn. (AP) _ Crane Co. (CR) on Monday reported fourth-quarter net income of $46.8 million, after reporting a loss in the same period a year earlier.

On a per-share basis, the Stamford, Connecticut-based company said it had net income of 80 cents. Earnings, adjusted for non-recurring costs, came to $1 per share.

The results fell short of Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of three analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of $1.09 per share.

The maker of engineered industrial products posted revenue of $726.4 million in the period.

For the year, the company reported profit of $181 million, or $3.08 per share. Revenue was reported as $2.94 billion.

Crane expects full-year earnings in the range of $4.90 to $5.10 per share, with revenue expected to be $3.05 billion.

Crane shares have increased 1% since the beginning of the year. In the final minutes of trading on Monday, shares hit $78.59, a fall of 8% in the last 12 months.
