Baltimore Gas and Electric Company Illuminates Downtown Headquarters Building with Purple Lights in Support of Ravens Playoff RunUtility commends Baltimore Ravens for an exceptional season and cheers them through the playoffs
BALTIMORE, Jan. 13, 2012 - Baltimore Gas and Electric Company (BGE) today announced that it has illuminated its downtown headquarters building, located at 110 W. Fayette St., with purple lights in celebration of the Ravens' fourth consecutive playoff run.
"BGE is proud to support the Baltimore Ravens and
congratulate the entire team on their fourth consecutive
playoff run, in this very visible way," said Kenneth W.
DeFontes, Jr., president of BGE. "We are excited to once
again join our customers and other Baltimore-area businesses
in celebrating our hometown team by painting the town
purple."
The lights, placed along the outside of the entire span of
the fourth floor of BGE's headquarters building, wash the
building in a flood of purple light. BGE will continue its
support of the Ravens through the purple-illuminated company
headquarters throughout the Ravens' hunt for the Super Bowl
Championship.
Additionally, employees of BGE and parent company,
Constellation Energy, will be participating in the Ravens
Purple Pride Challenge today at 1:45 p.m. on Constellation
Way in downtown Baltimore. Constellation Way is located along
Pratt Street, between Market Place and President Street.
Companies across Baltimore are being asked to encourage their
employees to wear purple to show their team spirit.
A Ravens Caravan, including the Ravens cheerleaders, marching
band and mascot, Poe, will join employees in a parade around
the Constellation building. Participating businesses across
Baltimore can upload photos of their team spirit to the
official Ravens facebook page. The Ravens will then select
the company that demonstrates the most "purple pride" and
award the winner with the Ravens playoff t- shirts, as well
as a visit by Poe, the team mascot, and the Baltimore Ravens
cheerleaders.
Constellation Energy, in support of National Mentorship
Month, will make a $5,000 donation
towards mentoring for every Ravens touchdown during Sunday's
playoff game against Houston.
