  • On December 16, the minaret of the Grand Mosque in Algeria jointly undertaken by CSCEC Algeria and China Construction Third Engineering Bureau Corp., Ltd. (CSCEC 3rd Bureau) replaced the Calton Center in Johannesburg, South Africa to become the new highest building in Africa, with the 223.5m-high structural concrete.
The minaret is the most important core area of the mosque. Four core tubes in the tower are arranged in a square pattern and the total height is 265m. The project boasts high standard, limited work space and strict quality control. (from CSCEC Algeria & CSCEC 3rd Bureau)
