Maniago (Pordenone), May 21, 2021 - Once again SIAP, the Carraro Group's center of excellence for high quality gears, stands out and this time it does so with particular attention to sustainability.

In fact, today, near the Maniago plant, the Bike to Work project aimed at promoting the use of bicycles to go from home to work and vice versa is launched.

In concrete terms, SIAP first of all created a new covered area within which over 40 bicycles of the employees of the headquarters can be safely parked. Here, however, there are also a series of stations for recharging electric vehicles.

In parallel a personalized kit consisting of a helmet and high visibility k-way will be provided to all SIAP people who have joined this initiative, with the main objective of ensuring safety on the way.

Based on an internal questionnaire, it is estimated that more than 60 collaborators will be able to join the project, leading to a further expansion of the current area dedicated to the initiative.

'This project is also part of our Carraro Social Responsibility path, which began 5 years ago across all Group's sites. - commented Tomaso Carraro, Group Vice Chairman and Chief CSR Officer - Being sustainable today means having an open and aware vision both on the environmental impact and, and perhaps above all, on the human one. The Bike to Work project is an excellent example of this in its simplicity. Because if on the one hand we will be able to reduce the number of vehicles on the road, helping reduce emissions, on the other hand we will be able to encourage the physical exercise of people, somehow favoring individual health'.

'The collaboration with the Carraro Group and with SIAP has made it possible to develop a project in favor of the whole city, which has long been recognized as a Cycling Municipality by FIAB - adds CristinaQuerin, Councilor for Tourism and Productive Activities of the Municipality of Maniago - Precisely FIAB, together with the NIP Consortium, supported us to launch a virtuous process that is already seeing the interest of other companies and entities in this area. Over the years we have mainly dealt with infrastructures with cycle paths, but now it becomes essential to encourage citizens to mobility on the two wheels, also in view of the launch of the municipal Biciplan. Objective: less emissions, more safety on the roads, more health from physical activity'.

The initiative promoted by SIAP is part of the broader context of the 'Maniago bike to work' project promoted by the Municipality which, precisely because of this, has become a pilot case at the regional level regarding cycling.

All this is the result of a work table that saw side by side the municipal administration, the NIP (Consortium for the Industrialization Nucleus of the Province of Pordenone), the local bicycle sector operators and SIAP representing the business world.
