The U.S. National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) announced on Thursday that it has decided to impose a series of sanctions and restrictions on Boeing, accusing it of disclosing information that was supposed to remain confidential.

In the agency's view, the aircraft manufacturer committed a "flagrant violation" of accident investigation regulations by disclosing sensitive information to the media.

In fact, in its view, the aircraft manufacturer put forward elements that could explain the opening of a door in mid-flight on January 5, on a plane bound for Portland (Oregon).

The NTSB points out that communicating such elements to the public is prohibited under the agreement that the two parties entered into at the very start of the investigation.

After participating in numerous NTSB investigations over the past decades, few companies are as familiar with these rules as Boeing", says the NTSB.

On the New York Stock Exchange, Boeing shares were up 2% on Thursday morning, despite this announcement.
