Núria Cabutí and Jennifer Mullin Appointed to Bertelsmann Group Management Committee
  • Eight women to sit on top management board in the future
  • Cabutí and Mullin represent Bertelsmann's global content businesses

Gütersloh, February 16, 2022 - With the appointment of Núria Cabutí and Jennifer Mullin, two top female Bertelsmann managers join the international media, services, and education company's Group Management Committee (GMC). Cabutí is CEO of Penguin Random House Grupo Editorial, the Spanish-language book publishing group based in Barcelona. Mullin is CEO of Fremantle, the global TV and video production company. Both were appointed by the Bertelsmann Executive Board to the executive committee, which ranks just below the Group Executive Board, effective March 1, 2022. This means that there are now eight women on the 20-strong GMC. The members represent seven nationalities. They advise and support the Executive Board on key matters of Group strategy and development.

Thomas Rabe, Chairman & CEO of Bertelsmann, said: "I'm delighted to welcome Núria Cabutí and Jennifer Mullin, two proven top executives who each bear responsibility for strategically important and fast-growing global content businesses, to the GMC. Both have had long and successful careers at Bertelsmann. They know our company very well and will provide valuable input to the GMC's work with the expertise from their international businesses. I look forward to working even more closely with them in the future."

Núria Cabutí began her career in the book industry in 1992 at Bertelsmann's Spanish publishing house Plaza & Janés. There and at Bertelsmann's Random House Mondadori publishing group, she held executive positions in marketing and communications and as publisher in the years that followed, before being appointed CEO of Random House Mondadori in 2010. In 2013, Cabutí became CEO of the merged Penguin Random House Grupo Editorial, the world's leading Spanish-language publishing group, which she expanded step by step. Her tenure to date has seen the acquisition of major publishing houses such as Santillana Ediciones Generales (2014), Ediciones B (2017), Ediciones Salamandra and Edicions La Campana (2019), RBA libros (2021) and 20/20 Editora in Portugal (2021). Since May 2021, she has served as Chairwoman of the Bertelsmann Management Representative Committee (BMRC) and in this role is also a member of the Bertelsmann Supervisory Board.

Jennifer Mullin joined what was then Fremantle Media North America in 2005 as Senior Vice President Current Programming, following Executive Producer positions at Paramount, Telepictures and Universal. In 2012, she was first named Executive Vice President Current Programming before being appointed Co-CEO of Fremantle Media North America in 2015, then sole CEO of the U.S. subsidiary in 2017. In September 2018, Jennifer Mullin took over as CEO of Fremantle, assuming responsibility for RTL Group's worldwide TV and video production business. Mullin is driving the expansion of Fremantle's scripted business and recently initiated the company's entry into the documentary space, a content genre dedicated to the production and distribution of globally sought-after, high-end documentaries - which has already notched up major creative successes. In 2021, Fremantle completed several acquisitions and share increases: it increased its stakes in the Israeli entertainment producer Abot Hameiri and the production company Eureka, and acquired twelve production labels from Nent Studios in Scandinavia.
