Consumer confidence back up again in January
After two consecutive declines, the consumer confidence indicator climbed back up in January to last October's high level.
The sharp rise in confidence among consumers is attributable to their much more favourable macroeconomic expectations. General economic prospects were given a much better appraisal and concern about an increase in unemployment dropped dramatically, after last month's gloomy assessment.
Households' outlook with regard to their financial situation was unchanged once again. However, they are planning considerably less savings.
