PHILADELPHIA, Jan. 31 /PRNewswire/ -- Bank of America Market President Executive Walter Elcock today named Thomas C. Woodward Pennsylvania state president and Philadelphia market president. Woodward currently serves as senior risk manager for Bank of America's commercial banking division with geographic responsibility for Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Delaware.

As state president, Woodward will provide business, civic and philanthropic leadership for Bank of America throughout Pennsylvania, with a focus on the Philadelphia market. He will work to strengthen communication and integration among the company's local business lines, continuously improve the customer experience, grow revenue in the state and enhance Bank of America's presence in the community. He will also have direct oversight of Bank of America's philanthropic and sponsorship assets in the region.

As state president, Woodward will lead a cross-functional team of seasoned banking leaders with many years of experience in the community.

Woodward began his career with Bank of America in 2006. Prior to that, he spent 25 years in various commercial credit and client management roles with Wachovia and its Philadelphia-based predecessors. Woodward began his career in banking with the former Industrial Valley Bank in 1979.

In 2002 and 2003, Woodward took leave from Wachovia and served as the Chief Operating Officer for the Historical Society of Pennsylvania during the organization's merger and integration with the Balch Institute for Ethnic Studies.

Woodward devotes a great deal of his free time to charitable and civic activities in Greater Philadelphia. He serves on the boards of directors of the Greater Philadelphia Cultural Alliance, the Historical Society of Pennsylvania, NPower Pennsylvania and the Committee of Seventy. An avid musician, Woodward is a member of the Philadelphia Singers Chorale and has participated in the group's performances with the Philadelphia Orchestra. He is also a past board president of the Choral Arts Society of Philadelphia.

Woodward is a graduate of Grove City College in Grove City, Penn. with a Bachelor of Arts degree in History and Economics. He also holds an MBA in Finance from Saint Joseph's University in Philadelphia.

A native of Chester County, Woodward was born in Coatesville and currently resides in Center City Philadelphia.
