Axion International (OTCBB:AXIH), the developer of Recycled Structural Composite (RSC)? technology that is used to produce 100% recycled plastic ECOTRAX? railroad ties and STRUXURE? industrial building materials, announced today that the company has hired two key executives that further strengthen the management team to support the company's continued growth.

Commercial and industrial construction industry veteran, Dave Crane, has joined as Executive Vice President of Building Products to help Axion penetrate the construction application and building industry with Axion's unique STRUXURE? building materials. Randy Hall has joined the company as Director of Quality Management, a critical role for the Company as it expands capacity to meet growing demand.

"I'm very excited to announce these additions to Axion's management team," stated Axion President and CEO, Steve Silverman. "Dave Crane will help define and develop Axion's continued growth into new markets while Randy Hall will help insure that Axion's long time commitment to quality continues to keep pace with the Company's growth. With the growth of our railroad business evolving nicely, it is time for us to systematically expand our focus on the infrastructure construction market. Dave has an extensive background in bringing new technology products to this space and has not only run product development cycles, he has been actively involved in establishing the supply chain and business development activities for these products. The building and construction industry segments represent growth opportunities for Axion and Dave's hiring should signify that we are pursuing those avenues of growth.

"It's also my position that the cornerstone of every great company is quality, and Axion has always focused heavily in that area. However, as we expand to contract manufacturers around the globe we must take our quality programs to the next level. Our goal is to manufacture the highest quality products possible. Randy is experienced in developing QA systems and procedures for multi-facility operations and him joining our team will help strengthen Axion's reputation for delivering the best composite ties and building material available anywhere in the world."

Crane joins Axion with an extensive background in the construction industry, most notably his experience in technical products, specifically engineered wood framing systems. Most recently as COO of a top German manufacturer, he spearheaded the company's expansion into direct channels of distribution into both the residential and commercial construction industries. His experience dates back to management and Vice President-level positions at companies including Georgia-Pacific, Blue Linx Corporation (a Fortune 1000 building products company) and AGC Flat Glass NA, holding positions ranging from marketing and sales through market development, strategic planning and execution, product management, sourcing, profit and loss management and overall operations. Dave's role at Axion will be instrumental in bringing Axion's unique RSC building materials to the broader construction industry just as that industry explores greener and longer-lasting solutions for both home and commercial applications.

Hall joins Axion having created and led multi-plant Quality Assurance and process improvement operations across the automotive, heavy equipment, and consumer goods industries. He's developed and implemented process control methods and created databases providing real-time feedback and data analysis for systems across a wide range of platforms. Hall holds an MBA and a Master of Science in Information Systems and his experience includes corporate and senior leadership roles at such companies as Terex (Fortune 500), Consolidated Container Co., and TRW Automotive (Fortune 200). He has led several multi-million dollar, international projects and programs, and has extensive experience in statistical & risk analysis/mitigation, global supplier development, and corporate strategic planning. Hall's roll will be crucial in continuing to ensure that Axion's reputation for quality and superiority over any competitor remains secure.
