LAS VEGAS, Jan. 6 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Audiovox Corporation (Nasdaq: VOXX) today announced that the retail launch of Qualcomm's FLO TV in-vehicle live TV system will be through the Mobile Enhancement Retailers Association (MERA). MERA is a wholly owned subsidiary of InstallerNet and has long been recognized as the premier association focused on the success of the specialty mobile electronics retailer.

"We are delighted to invite the more than 2,000 MERA members to help launch live in-vehicle TV to the millions of consumers who already have mobile video systems in their cars and have been waiting for the live TV option for years," said Tom Malone, president Audiovox Electronics Corp. "MERA members are committed to providing a high level of product knowledge, installer training and certification and a keen understanding of consumer trends in the mobile industry. That focus makes the MERA retail stores the perfect place for the initial retail launch of FLO TV."

FLO TV service is live mobile TV with the capacity for up to 20 channels providing programming for everyone: college and professional sports, breaking news, children's shows, primetime sitcoms, reality TV and daytime dramas. Some of the channel partners include ABC, Disney, ESPN, FOX News, CBS Mobile, Nickelodeon, Comedy Central, CNBC, MTV, msnbc and NBC2Go to name a few. By the end of 2009, FLO TV(TM) Auto Entertainment was available in more than 100 major markets and many interstate, driving corridors reaching over 200 million potential customers. The FLO TV service is not available in some rural areas.

"The emphasis MERA members place on professional installation, training and certification provides strong support for this new and innovative product's success in the retail channel," said Anthony Frangiosa, president and CEO of InstallerNet. "We are proud of Audiovox's selection of MERA as the go-to organization for the rollout of FLO TV Automotive Entertainment."

Audiovox is the exclusive supplier of FLO TV hardware and in December launched FLO TV at the car dealer level and in an OE Mopar program with Chrysler dealers. The initial retail launch to MERA members and existing Audiovox customers is expected in late January with full retail distribution to open up shortly thereafter.

The hardware solution is universal and works with virtually any rear or front seat mobile video system, including drop downs, headrests and mobile multimedia products. Audiovox will supply the hardware for FLO TV(TM) Auto Entertainment systems at the retail level under the Audiovox brand.

The system consists of a receiver that is not visible to the consumer, two remotes and an antenna that is the size of a computer mouse and will be mounted on the vehicle's roof for maximum signal strength.
