This hire further positions Arrow S3 for growth and leadership in the unified communications space

)--Arrow Electronics Inc. (NYSE: ARW) announced today that it has hired Tim Armstrong, former global channel marketing leader at Microsoft, to run the new Microsoft unified communications business development team with Arrow's Shared Solutions and Services, or S3, business. The move reflects a significant investment in the continued growth of Arrow S3's multivendor business development organization.

"Our focus has always been on helping our customers address business challenges with the right communications technology," said John Delozier, senior vice president of sales for Arrow S3. "By investing in our Microsoft UC practice, we are well positioned to help IT departments bridge the gap between legacy communications platforms and modern user needs."

Armstrong will serve as Arrow S3's regional vice president of sales and will head a new national Microsoft UC team, working closely with the company's Microsoft UC services team to offer best-in-class solutions to businesses nationwide. A 10-year Microsoft veteran, Armstrong most recently was responsible for global channel strategy and programs for system integration and application partners in the Lync group. Previously, he worked in a variety of sales and technical roles in the telecommunications industry.

"There are very few people in the industry who know the Lync ecosystem as well as Tim," said Delozier. "His leadership and experience will be a great complement to the world-class team of Microsoft UC technical experts that Arrow S3 has been recruiting for the last 18 months."

Arrow currently offers professional and managed services for Microsoft Lync through the S3 business and is a Gold Communications Partner in the Microsoft Partner Network. Under the technical leadership of Dr. Jeff Reed, Arrow has built a solution architecture and delivery team within the S3 business focused on Microsoft Lync and Office 365 consulting, migration and support. The Microsoft practice brings a strong history of technical leadership in unified communications and contact center solutions and services from other leading vendors.

"When I looked across the growing ecosystem of Lync partners, Arrow's S3 business stood out as an organization that is uniquely well-positioned to succeed in an industry that is going through massive transformation right now," said Armstrong. "It's exciting to be joining an organization that not only has the expertise to help our customers but also the vision and leadership to change the industry."

Arrow's S3 business provides specialized UC, voice and data technologies, contact center and network security solutions, services and support.
