More than a year and a half after OpenAI released ChatGPT, starting a craze around large language models and generative AI, Apple is officially on board the AI hypetrain. On Monday, the iPhone maker unveiled a host of AI features that will be built into upcoming versions of iOS, iPadOS and macOS.

The wide array of new features Apple announced Monday highlights not only the many strengths of AI at its current stage, but also one weakness. Because there is actually no real killer application yet. But few users really rely on AI in their daily routines.

According to a recent survey conducted by YouGov on behalf of the Reuters Institute for the Study of Journalism, experimentation is one of the most popular uses for generative AI tools.
