Welcome to new AGL Community Relations Manager in Gloucester Thursday, January 09, 2014

The newest member of AGL's Gloucester team has moved her young family to town and is looking forward to her role as Community Relations Manager.

Karyn Looby started with AGL on January 6 after moving from Queensland where she worked in a similar role with BHP Billiton Mitsubishi Alliance (known as BMA) for more than three years.

Karyn has a wealth of experience in the resources industry were most recently she was Senior Community Advisor at BMA's metallurgical coal operations based in Moranbah, Queensland. Prior to this, Karyn worked for BHP Billiton Iron Ore based in Newman, Western Australia, at the company's Mt Whaleback operation.

"I'm really happy to be here in Gloucester. It's a beautiful town and I'm sure I'll meet a lot of interesting people from a variety of backgrounds while in my community relations role," Karyn said.

"I've moved my husband and one-year-old and five-year-old daughters all the way here from Far North Queensland and already it reminds me of where I grew up on a dairy farm in the Waikato in New Zealand. We're looking forward to being involved in the community and making Gloucester home.

"The opportunity to deliver positive outcomes with the community is very exciting and I look forward to meeting new people and becoming part of the community here in Gloucester."

Karyn holds a Bachelor of International Business Management and is completing a Graduate Diploma of Community Relations (in the Resource Sector) at the University of Queensland.

Apart from the resources industry, Karyn also worked for Gulf Air in the Middle East and as a manager at a tourism resort in Mansfield, Victoria.

Karyn's extensive experience in communications, partnership development and resources industry community relations will be an asset to AGL's Gloucester operations.
