Moscow, 21 May 2018 - Aeroflot PJSC (Moscow Exchange ticker: AFLT) today announces operating results for Aeroflot Group ("the Group") and Aeroflot - Russian Airlines ("the Company") for April and 4M 2018[1].
January - April 2018 Operating HighlightsIn 4M 2018, Aeroflot Group carried 15.2 million passengers, up 7.2% year-on-year. Aeroflot airline carried 10.2 million passengers, a year-on-year increase of 6.0%. Group and Company RPKs increased by 7.2% and 4.9% year-on-year, respectively. ASKs rose by 7.4% year-on-year for the Group and by 7.5% year-on-year for the Company. The passenger load factor decreased by 0.2 p.p. year-on-year to 79.1% for Aeroflot Group and by 2.0 p.p. to 77.2% for Aeroflot airline.
April 2018 Operating HighlightsIn April 2018, Aeroflot Group carried 4.2 million passengers, up 8.8% year-on-year. Aeroflot airline carried 2.8 million passengers, a year-on-year increase of 7.5%.
Group and Company RPKs were up 8.4% and 5.6% year-on-year, respectively. ASKs rose by 11.0% for Aeroflot Group and by 11.3% for Aeroflot airline.
On domestic routes, Group passengers carried and RPKs grew by 9.0% and 10.8% year-on-year, respectively. ASKs grew by 8.9% year-on-year. Company passengers carried and RPKs increased by 10.2% and 8.6% year-on-year, respectively. ASKs grew by 11.0%.
In April 2018, the number of passengers carried on the Group's international routes increased by 8.6% year-on-year. RPKs grew by 6.8%, while capacity grew by 12.6%. The number of passengers carried by Aeroflot airline on international routes increased by 4.9%. RPKs grew by 4.1%, ASKs by 11.4%.
The passenger load factor decreased by 2.0 p.p. year-on-year to 80.7% for Aeroflot Group and by 4.2 p.p. to 79.3% for Aeroflot airline. The significant increase in the passenger load factor in April 2017 driven by appreciation of the rouble created a high base factor, leading to a non-material normalisation of this indicator in the April 2018 reporting period. (In April 2017, the passenger load factor increased by 3.3 p.p. year-on-year for the Group and by 3.0 p.p. year-on-year for the Company).
Fleet updateIn April 2018, Aeroflot Group added five aircraft: two Airbus A320, two Boeing 737-800 and one Boeing 777-300 and one SSJ100. One Airbus A321 was phased out. As of 30 April 2018, the Group fleet had 340 aircraft2.
Aeroflot airline added four aircraft: two Airbus A320 and two Boeing 737-800. One Airbus A321 was phased out. As of 30 April 2018, the Company fleet had 235 aircraft.
