Aerodrom Ljubljana dd : EasyJet to boost London service

British low-cost airline easyJet is boosting its Ljubljana-London service. Starting today, easyJet is offering nine flights a week from Ljubljana Airport to the British capital (up from the previous seven flights a week).

Leading European airline easyJet has announced additions to its Ljubljana-London service from the end of May. From 26 May onwards, passengers will have the choice of two flights a day to the British capital (Stansted Airport) on Thursdays and Sundays, including an evening flight (until now only a morning flight was available on these days). The low-cost carrier previously offered one flight a day to London every day of the week.

The British carrier operates all its flights from Ljubljana Jože Pučnik Airport with Airbus A319 and A320 aircraft. One-way tickets from Ljubljana to London are available from just €22. Tickets can be bought online at any time from www.easyjet.com or up to two and a half hours before departure from the easyJet desk at Ljubljana Airport.
easyJet was the first low-cost airline to offer flights to Slovenia. It has been flying to Ljubljana without interruption since 28 April 2004. The service between Brnik (Ljubljana) and London Stansted has been very popular with passengers ever since it was introduced, and easyJet is seen as one of Aerodrom Ljubljana's most reliable business partners. The airline has played an important part in increasing the number of British tourists in Slovenia and in raising our country's profile on the world tourism map. The Ljubljana-London service is in first place in terms of passenger numbers (150,000 passengers carried on this route in 2015).

According to figures from Slovenia's national statistics office, the United Kingdom is the sixth country in Europe in terms of the number of overnight stays in Slovenia, with figures continuing to grow. More than 88,000 British tourists accounted for more than 260,000 overnight stays in Slovenia in 2015, with an average length of stay of three days. They are attracted by Slovenia's wide range of active holidays at all times of the year, while in recent years there has also been an increase in the number of groups of young people who choose Slovenia for an unforgettable stag or hen weekend. For many British passengers, Ljubljana Airport functions as a gateway for travel in the Balkans. The increased service between Ljubljana and London is also sure to be welcomed by passengers travelling to London. The second most visited tourist destination in the world receives more than 17 million visitors a year. Each year around 70,000 Slovenes - along with many passengers from neighbouring countries - depart from Ljubljana Airport for this bustling metropolis with its many tourist attractions. Many of them use the rich network of connections offered by London's airports to continue their journeys around the world. Passengers can also fly from Brnik to London with the low-cost carrier Wizzair (London Luton) and flag carrier Adria Airways (London Gatwick).

Low-cost airline easyJet flies to more than 800 destinations in more than 30 countries around the world. Its fleet includes 200 Airbus aircraft and it employs more than 10,000 people. Last year it carried more than 70 million passengers.
