A-Cap Energy Limited has received notice that an amended works program for its 100% owned Letlhakane Uranium Project in Botswana has been approved by the Minister of Mineral Resources, Green Technology and Energy Security. The Company was granted a Mining Licence (2016/16L) for the Letlhakane Project in 2016 for a period of 22 years. A condition of the Mining Licence Approval is to provide a start date for construction. However Pursuant to Section 43 of the Botswana Mines and Minerals Act, 1999, "the holder of a mining licence may, from time to time, notify the Minister of amendments he wishes to make to his programme of mining operations and such amendments shall, unless the Minister rejects them within three months after being so notified, have effect after such period". Due to the subdued uranium price, in July 2021, A-Cap submitted an amended program of works with the Botswana Department of Mines requesting a further amendment to the commencement of the pre-construction and construction period. The Minister of Mineral Resources, Green Technology and Energy Security, has extended the start of construction to 30th September 2024 and this is seen as positive as it enables the Company to align the Letlhakane project with the rising price of uranium. This approval is timely, amid an increased investor sentiment and a rising uranium price. A-Cap has kept the project on reduced expenditure and now can invest further in the project to update costs and optimise project parameters.
