Export inspections for corn and soybeans are slightly lower this week, with marketing year totals continuing to drag behind last year's levels.

In its latest grain export inspections report, the U.S. Department of Agriculture said corn export inspections totaled 727,643 metric tons for the week ended Jan. 19. Soybean inspections totaled 1.81 million tons. Both of these figures are lower than last week's figures.

The pace of corn export inspections in the 2022/23 marketing year remain 30% lower than this time last year, totaling 11.51 million tons. Soybean inspections are off nearly 3% from the previous year, at 34.1 million tons.

China was the leading destination for U.S. soybeans, while Mexico was the leading destination for corn.

Wheat inspections totaled 334,217 tons for the week, slightly higher than 325,643 tons reported last week.

Grain futures trading on the CBOT are lower on concerns about export demand. Most-active corn futures are down 1.7%, soybeans are 1.5% lower and wheat is down 3%.
