Oji Holdings Earns 'A' Rating from CDP in Water Security for Second Consecutive Year
Oji Holdings Corporation (CEO: Hiroyuki Isono, Head Office: Tokyo) has been recognized by CDP1, a global non-profit that runs an environmental disclosure system, for its leadership in transparency and performance in water security. Following its inclusion in 2024, the company was again included in CDP's highest rating, the Water Security 'A List,' in 2025. In addition, Oji Holdings has been included in CDP's Forests 'A List' (Timber) for four consecutive years.
The Oji Group has been advancing initiatives such as assessing water-related risks in its operations, reducing water withdrawal through circular water use, purifying wastewater to support ecosystem conservation, and engaging in dialogue and collaboration with local water-related stakeholders. The inclusion in the 'A List' reflects the Group's continued efforts in these areas, as well as its comprehensive and transparent disclosure of information related to water management.
Meanwhile, the vast forests owned and managed by the Oji Group provide a wide range of ecosystem services, including water resource cultivation, which helps purify and store water. The water cultivation capacity of Oji's forests in Japan (188,000 hectares) is estimated at approximately 5.1 million cubic meters per day, equivalent to the daily water usage of around 16.9 million people2, contributing to the stable supply of water resources.
Guided by one of its management philosophies, "Harmony with Nature and Society," the Oji Group will continue to strengthen water conservation initiatives at its business sites and enhance the multifunctional value of its forests, derived from these ecosystem services, thereby contributing to the realization of a sustainable society.
CDP (https://www.cdp.net/en) is a global non-profit that runs the world's only independent environmental disclosure system for companies, capital markets, cities, states and regions. Founded in 2000, CDP works with investors and financial institutions to engage companies on environmental transparency, with a focus on climate change, water security and forests. In 2025, 640 investors with USD 127 trillion in assets called on companies to disclose through CDP, and over 22,100 companies disclosed data through its platform.
This figure was calculated based on an estimated daily household water usage of 300 liters per person (Source: Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare, Japan).
