Kenny Jackett says he understands the clamour from supporters for new faces following the departure of Benik Afobe and several long-term injuries.

But the Head Coach insists the club will not over-stretch on salaries amid what can often be an inflated market in the January transfer window.

Jackett has stated throughout the month that he is keen to add to a squad which has been depleted in recent weeks, and that remains the aim ahead of the window closing at 11pm on Monday.

Signings over the last two January's have included Nouha Dicko and Benik Afobe respectively, and while there are funds available, Jackett admits the club being up for sale has also changed the landscape.

'In terms of our signings and the team stepping forward it's been a big talking point amongst supporters,' he says.

'But the club is up for sale.

'While we all want to step forward and we all want to make a better team and a better squad, the club is up for sale.

'There is money available, we are looking for players.

'Obviously with the sale of Benik Afobe that has released spaces, funds, for us to try to move and improve.

'But it is also a situation where even on player wages we're not going to just suddenly open up on wages.

'And while there is transfer funds available to buy players - and we've always tried to add young players and develop young players here - it's quite often wages that hold you back.

'And wages of players that can get you into the top two top six, top half of this division are very expensive.

'And that's proving a difficulty.

'So while there is, for the right players, money available to go and spend, wages can be a big problem and for us and for Wolves we've worked hard to try to limit the very high demands and high wage bill that you can build up in the Championship.'

Jackett says Wolves must avoid some of the examples within the league where clubs have overstretched and ended up in serious difficulties.

'It does go that way when you see different clubs in embargo,' he added.

'People then point to mismanagement.

'For us we understand the supporters and we get the message loud and clear.

'We want to be improving the team and spending money, we do get that.

'There has to be a degree of common sense to our decisions.'
