The Mayor of Warrumbungle Shire Council, Councillor Peter Shinton, has announced that Warrumbungle Shire Council has appointed a new General Manager. Mr Roger Bailey was appointed at an Extraordinary Meeting of Council held on 9thJanuary 2018 and will take up the position at the end of February.

The Mayor said 'I am pleased to have Roger on board. Roger has a long history in senior local government positions in NSW having been the General Manager at Lachlan, Leeton and Lithgow Councils. Almost all his local government career has been spent in rural and regional areas and Council felt he was a good fit for the position we had on offer.'

'We now look forward to Council moving into a period of stability and financial security' the Mayor said.

In speaking on his impending move into the position Mr Bailey said 'I have taken a lot of satisfaction out of working in rural and regional communities throughout my career and have been very proud of my achievements in those communities.'

'The Warrumbungle area has its challenges but it also has some wonderful opportunitiesand communities with a great lifestyle and future ahead of them.'

'As a general manager my aim is to deliver sound and progressive local government with an impeccable level of integrity and public confidence in how the Council operates'

'I am looking forward to working with the Council, councillors, staff and community to achieve the best for the area.'

The Mayor thanked all the Councillors who had been involved in the extensive selection process.

He also offered his appreciation for Council's current staff, especially Acting General Manager Leeanne Ryan, who had stepped up during the absence of a permanent General Manager.
