This donation to the WTO's Doha Development Agenda Global Trust Fund (DDAGTF) will finance training workshops for officials in Geneva and elsewhere to help them better understand and implement WTO agreements. Over 2,600 workshops have been organized since the fund was created in 2001.

WTO Director-General Roberto Azevêdo said: 'Lithuania's donation will be important to help developing countries and LDCs acquire the necessary skill-set to participate effectively in trade negotiations and take advantage of the opportunities that international trade offers. I welcome Lithuania's contribution.'

Lithuania's Ambassador to the WTO, Dalia Kadišienė, said: 'Lithuania is pleased to renew its contribution so that it can continue to assist developing countries and LDCs in implementing WTO rules effectively. Lithuania remains committed to supporting the DDAGTF as a means of helping these countries achieve economic growth through trade, including in the field of trade facilitation.'

Overall, Lithuania has donated approximately CHF 350,000 to this trust fund over the last 15 years. It is the first contributor to this fund in 2019.
