Vizient, Inc., experienced strong growth in its membership by adding 54 new members to its network of academic medical centers, pediatric facilities, community hospitals, integrated health delivery networks and non-acute health care providers over the course of 2016. In addition to Vizient’s group purchasing contract portfolio and services, members will have access to an array of performance improvement solutions, pharmacy and spend management analytics, workforce and performance services and consulting services.

Also in 2016, Vizient and the Children’s Hospital Association (CHA) agreed to extend their current GPO contract through 2021 with an additional three-year extension term through 2024. CHA represents more than 220 of the nation’s leading children's hospitals and advances child health through innovation in the quality, cost and delivery of care. Vizient’s partnership with CHA began in 2013 and in 2016, two additional pediatric facilities joined CHA. To date, Vizient has delivered more than $202 million in implementable savings to CHA’s hospitals that participate in the program. In 2016 alone, CHA’s participating hospitals purchased almost $2.3 billion through Vizient’s contracts.

“With almost $100 billion in annual purchasing volume, Vizient is able to offer hospitals significant savings opportunities via our contract portfolio, our NOVAPLUS® private label program, our industry-leading pharmacy offerings and our NOVAKIDSTM program, as well as other sourcing programs. Members also have access to an unmatched array of services, expertise and analytics to help them meet their clinical and cost reduction goals,” said Rand Ballard, chief customer officer for Vizient. “We are excited to work with these organizations to deliver insights and solutions that help them improve quality, reduce variation and lower costs.”
