This indicator released by the University of Michigan is one, with the Conference Board, of the two main indicators of consumer confidence in the United States. This statistic is based on telephone interviews with general questions about the economic outlook of the United States. Three choices of answers are possible: negative, neutral or positive, which allows for determining an average level of the indicator. The scope of this index is used to define a recovery in consumer spending and therefore GDP growth.
