The Keg Royalties Income Fund Announces Fourth Quarter Sales Results

The Keg Royalties Income Fund (TSX:KEG.UN) (the "Fund") and Keg Restaurants Ltd. ("KRL") today announced sales results for the 13 and 52 week periods ended January 1, 2012.

KRL's total system sales for the 13 weeks ended January 1, 2012 were $124.6 million compared to $119.2 million for the 13 weeks ended January 2, 2011, an increase of $5.4 million or 4.5%. For the 52-week period ended January 1, 2012, The Keg's total system sales were $480.7 million compared to $468.5 million for the 52-week period ended January 2, 2011, an increase of $12.1 million or 2.6%. Royalty Pool sales increased by 6.9% to $122.1 million for the quarter, and by 4.3% to $472.3 million for the year. These increased sales reflect the very successful new Keg restaurants which were added to the Royalty Pool on January 1, 2011, and strong same store sales growth of 5.0% for the quarter and 3.5% for the year.

The Keg's same store sales (sales of restaurants that operated during the entire period of both the current and prior years) increased by 4.8% in Canada and by 5.1% in the United States for the 13-week period ended January 1, 2012, and increased by 3.9% in both Canada and the United States for the 52-week period ended January 1, 2012. After translating the sales of the U.S. restaurants into their Canadian dollar equivalent, consolidated same store sales increased by 5.0% for the 13-week period and by 3.5% for the 52-week period. The average exchange rate increased from 1.01 to 1.02 in the comparable 13-week period, slightly increasing the Canadian dollar equivalent of the U.S. restaurant sales, and decreased from 1.03 to 0.99 during the comparable 52-week period, significantly decreasing the Canadian dollar equivalent of the U.S. restaurant sales.

"The Keg has marked yet another consecutive quarter of strong same store sales growth," said David Aisenstat, President and CEO of Keg Restaurants Ltd. "We believe these results speak to the continuing strength of The Keg brand and the exceptional experience we consistently deliver to our guests by focusing on one major objective: to run great steakhouses and bars."

The Fund (TSX:KEG.UN) is a limited purpose, open-ended trust established under the laws of the Province of Ontario that, through The Keg Rights Limited Partnership, owns certain trademarks and other related intellectual property used by KRL. In exchange for use of those trademarks, Keg Restaurants Ltd pays the Fund a royalty of 4% of gross sales of Keg restaurants included in the Royalty Pool.

Vancouver-based KRL is the leading operator and franchisor of steakhouse restaurants in Canada and has a substantial presence in select regional markets in the United States. KRL continues to operate The Keg restaurant system and expand that system through the addition of both corporate and franchised Keg steakhouses. KRL has been named one of the "50 Best Employers in Canada" for the past ten years by Aon Hewitt. For more information on our brand, visit www.kegsteakhouse.com.
