Launching a bold and exciting range of opportunities for investment, redevelopment and letting that offer investors, businesses and developers the chance to be part of the success underway in Stockport, the prospectus reinforces Stockport's position as one of South Manchester's prime investment locations.

With people at the heart of the prospectus and the change it will bring, it sets out how Stockport and co-investors will build on the success of the £1 billion transformation that is already underway, as well as celebrating Stockport's unique character and heritage. The prospectus details how:

  • jobs and homes will be created for residents
  • Stockport town centre's leisure and recreation offer will be transformed
  • the town's first-class connectivity will be further improved

At the event, The Light Cinema, Muse Developments and Housing Capital Trust each shared the great success they have had in Stockport, and the real benefits they have each received by investing in the town.

Caroline Simpson, Corporate Director for Place at Stockport Council also highlighted the fantastic success and transformation that has taken place in the town centre recently, and the Council's commitment to building on this. She outlined how the Council plan to carry on reshaping the town for modern life, bringing new jobs and an improved visitor offer to Stockport and the great opportunities available for the private sector to get on board and benefit too.

Councillor Kate Butler, Cabinet Member for Economy and Regeneration at Stockport Council said: 'We're ambitious for the future of Stockport. The huge progress made to date is clear for all to see but it doesn't stop there. Massive opportunities are now within grasp as we enter the next, truly transformational stage of town centre regeneration.

'Our new prospectus puts people right at the heart of the change taking place. We're committed to connecting communities to the opportunities town centre renewal brings.'

Stockport Exchange phase 2 was quickly fully let and the new Holiday Inn Express is trading well above expectations; The Light Cinema is similarly trading ahead of target as are the new restaurants at Redrock Stockport. There are now more reasons than ever for people to visit and live in Stockport town centre. The prospectus sets out why and how we will work to deliver an even better town centre to capitalise on this huge untapped potential.

'With £1 billion of investment being pumped into the town, there's a renaissance happening in Stockport. Insider's event was the perfect platform to unveil these new plans to an audience with specific interest in the future of the area's commercial, residential, industrial, retail and leisure sectors,' said Simon Keegan, editor, North West Business Insider
