In December 2015 compared with December 2014:

  • Visitor arrivals (444,900) were up 42,400. The biggest changes were in arrivals from:
    • China (up 11,000)
    • Australia (up 9,200)
    • the United Kingdom (up 3,800)
    • the United States (up 3,200)
    • Korea (up 2,300)
    • Singapore (up 1,400)
  • Overseas trips by New Zealand residents (245,800) were up 15,000. The biggest changes were in departures to:
    • the United Kingdom (up 2,500)
    • China (up 1,900)
    • the United States (up 1,400).

In December 2015, seasonally adjusted figures showed a net gain of 5,500 migrants.
