In December 2015 compared with December 2014:

Visitor arrivals (444,900) were up 42,400. The biggest changes were in arrivals from:
- China (up 11,000)
- Australia (up 9,200)
- the United Kingdom (up 3,800)
- the United States (up 3,200)
- Korea (up 2,300)
- Singapore (up 1,400)

Overseas trips by New Zealand residents (245,800) were up 15,000. The biggest changes were in departures to:
- the United Kingdom (up 2,500)
- China (up 1,900)
- the United States (up 1,400).
In December 2015, seasonally adjusted figures showed a net gain of 5,500 migrants.
