In the 4th quarter of 2013, compared with the 3rd quarter of 2013, consumer prices fell by 0,2 %, in total. Prices dropped in the divisions: food and non-alcoholic beverages by 1,7 %, transport by 1,1 %, furnishings, household equipment and routine household maintenance by 0,5 %. Prices increased for clothing and footwear; education equally by 1,7 %, health; miscellaneous goods and services equally by 0,6 %.
A decline in prices of food by 1,7 % was affected by lower prices of fruit by 16,9 %, vegetables (including potatoes) by 3 %, sugar, jam, honey, syrups, chocolates and confectionary by 2,2 %, oils and fats by 2 %, bread and cereals by 1,3 %, fish by 0,6 %, meat by 0,1 %. Prices of milk, cheese and eggs went up by 2,1 %. Prices of non-alcoholic beverages dropped by 1,5 % (mineral water, soft drinks, fruit and vegetable juices by 2,1 %, coffee, tea and cocoa by 0,3 %).
A price reduction in transport was affected by lower prices of operation of personal transport equipment by 1,6 % (prices of fuels and lubricants decreased by 2,7 %, prices of spare parts and accessories increased by 0,3 %, prices of maintenance and repair did not change); purchase of transport equipment (motor vehicles by 0,6 %, bicycles by 0,3 %); transport service activities equally by 0,6 % (prices of air passenger transport declined by 31,2 %, prices of other transport service activities grew by 0,1 %, prices did not change for road passenger transport).
Lower prices in the division of furnishings, household equipment and routine household maintenance were affected by a fall in prices for glassware, tableware furniture and household utensils; goods and services for routine maintenance of household equally by 0,8 %, household appliances by 0,4 %, tools and equipment for house and garden by 0,3 %, furnishings, carpets and other floor covering goods by 0,2 %. Prices of household textile did not change.
A price growth in the division of clothing and footwear was affected by higher prices of footwear by 1,8 % and clothing by 1,6 %.
Rising prices in the division of education were influenced by higher prices of pre-primary and primary education by 3,8 %, education not definable by 2,7 % and secondary education by 0,4 %. Prices of tertiary education did not change.
Growing prices in the division of health were affected by higher prices of medical and pharmaceutical products, therapeutic appliances and equipment (pharmaceutical preparations and products by 0,9 %, other medical products, therapeutic appliances and equipment equally by 0,3 %), outpatient services equally by 0,6 % (dental services by 1,1 %, other outpatient services by 0,9 %, medical services by 0,2 %) and hospital services by 0,4 %.
A price increase in the division of miscellaneous goods and services was affected by higher prices of financial services n.e.c. by 3,7 %, personal effects n.e.c. by 0,6 %, personal care; social services equally by 0,5 % and other service activities n.e.c. by 0,1 %. Prices of insurance fell by 0,4 % (insurance relating to transport by 1,6 %).
