In total, more than 250,000 workers at tech companies of all sizes have been laid off this year, according to job-tracking tool Layoffs.fyi. A record figure compared with previous years, including during the pandemic. These layoffs are mainly due to a correction of the over-hiring that took place during the pandemic, when interest rates were low and demand for technology services was rising. Roger Lee, creator of Layoffs.fyi, gives an in-depth analysis of the figures, and predicts that the trend in layoffs will continue early next year.
