STOCKHOLM--Riksbank Governor Stefan Ingves will leave the bank when his term of office expires on Dec. 31, 2022 and will be succeeded by Erik Thedeen, it said Friday.

The Swedish central bank said Mr. Ingves, who has served as governor for 17 years, will continue to head up the Riksbank's work until he leaves and will take part in all of the monetary policy decisions until then.

Mr. Thedeen has been director general at the Swedish Financial Supervisory Authority since 2015, and has previously served as deputy director general of the Swedish National Debt Office, chief executive of the Stockholm Stock Exchange and managing director of KPA Pension.

He has also previously served as state secretary at the Ministry of Finance.

Mr Thedeen is currently also vice chairman of the European Securities and Markets Authority and chairman of The International Organization of Securities Commissions Sustainable Finance Task Force.

He has been appointed for a term of office of six years and will take up his new position on Jan 1, 2023.
