HARRISBURG
- Rep. Ryan Warner (R-Fayette/Westmoreland) recently was re-appointed by House Speaker Mike Turzai (R-Allegheny) to the Port of Pittsburgh Commission for a full two-year term.

He joined the commission initially last spring for the remainder of the 2015-16 legislative session.

'Through my short tenure on the commission, I have gained a deeper understanding of how important the river system is to the economy of southwestern Pennsylvania,' Warner said. 'The Port of Pittsburgh drives business and encourages recreational tourism. It is vital to make sure our inland waterway system is maintained and improved.'

Created by the Legislature under Law 1992-133, the Port of Pittsburgh Commission's board consists of four legislative appointees from the legislative caucuses and 11 gubernatorial appointees. The commission promotes the commercial use and development of the inland waterway-intermodal transportation system and integrates that system into the economic, recreational, environmental and intermodal future of the residents and industries of southwestern Pennsylvania.

'Rep. Warner has done an excellent job advocating for the importance of the inland waterway system,' Turzai said. 'As a native of western Pennsylvania, he provides a unique perspective and is a strong supporter for needed improvements that will benefit the area for years to come.'

The 52nd Legislative District includes the city of Connellsville; Dawson, Dunbar, Everson, Perryopolis, Seven Springs, South Connellsville and Vanderbilt boroughs; Bullskin, Connellsville, Dunbar, Lower Tyrone, Menallen, North Union, Perry, Saltlick and Upper Tyrone townships in Fayette County, along with Scottdale Borough, and part of East Huntingdon Township in Westmoreland County.
