Pavilion Data Systems, an industry leader in NVMe-oF storage technologies, announced today that it has joined the Storage Networking Industry Association (SNIA) in an effort to create standards around NVMe-oF for data management and security, adding to its ongoing efforts as a contributor to NVM Express. The company is also announcing its selection as a finalist in the Storage Magazine and SearchStorage 2018 Products of the Year awards in the Enterprise Storage Arrays category. The entries were judged on the following criteria: innovation, performance, ease of integration, ease of use and manageability, functionality and value.

“The enterprise storage arrays considered for our 2018 Storage magazine and SearchStorage Products of the Year awards confirm analysts' predictions: data centers this year started to adopt nonvolatile memory express (NVMe) flash storage,” states the article. “The next phase is expected to usher in standards-based NVMe over Fabrics, providing a connective tissue to fully enable the NVMe interface.”

Pavilion was recognized for its innovative approach, which “eschews the traditional two-controller design for a modular design that allows racks of storage to be customized for different types of applications.” The author also notes that “multiple types of NVMe SSDs may be deployed in the same system, with dedicated storage for different applications.”

“In the past, Direct Attached Storage (DAS) was the only option that met our performance requirements, but it had significant flaws in scalability and in management,” said John Law, network manager at Holley Performance Products. “Our new Pavilion system delivers the same performance level as our previous PCI-E flash storage, but gives us back the management, flexibility, and especially the scalability of a true enterprise-level storage array. As an early adopter of NVMe-oF, I am pleased to see Pavilion Data sharing its expertise and participating in industry standards work to help the community bring the next wave of NVMe technology to the market.”

“At SNIA, we stay on top of the latest storage trends, making sure that together with industry experts and vendors we create, support and promote standards benefiting customers all over the world,” said Michael Oros, SNIA executive director. “NVMe-oF is now one of the hottest and most interesting storage interconnect technologies out there and we welcome vendors such as Pavilion Data to collaborate with our community, demonstrating the true benefits of this technology through interoperability and enterprise workloads.”

“We are honored to be recognized by the TechTarget storage editorial team in the 17th annual storage award program and we are pleased to lead the NVMe-oF innovation and adoption happening today in the storage market,” said Gurpreet Singh, CEO of Pavilion Data. “Our NVMe-oF Storage Platform is being rapidly adopted by leading brands, thanks to Direct-Attached Storage (DAS)-like performance of NVMe combined with the features you have come to expect from enterprise SAN arrays.”
